How to install window xp after fedora10 installation
Hi All
I would like to install window xp which have been corrupted for some reasons.Fedora10 is working fine on my PC.I try to install window xp from cd,it shows only first two steps. Can you tell How can I install window xp on my system.
Thanks in Advance
If you are not planning to make heavy use of XP (particularly for games that make full use of your system), I suggest you try installing it as a virtual machine. I mainly use Fedora 8 and 12 but sometimes need to use a Microsoft Access application or some other old programs and I have had very good results running XP using VirtualBox. You can find instructions at virtualbox.org.
If you don't want to try that, you should probably provide more details of how you plan to use the system.
Thanks Gardnerd for Reply
But I would like to install window on my System without using VM.On my disk there are 4 partition c,d,e,f.I used c,d,e for window and f for Linux. Each Partition size is 40GB,and I have the window xp service pack cd.when I try to install using this cd system follow two
steps 1. press any key to boot from cd 2.Check your hardware for configuration ........ After my pc screen is become black.I have already told fedora10 is working fine. Can you Tell me the other solution of this problem.
Thanks in Advance
you can install xp as a normal installation but don't format the linux partation after install xp you can recover your grub so your xp & fedora both will be work fine
windows usually has problems with non-windows data in the master boot record. If you were booting both Fedora and xp with Grub this might be your problem. Use your xp cd, load it and look for a Recovery option, if you don't have one and you can get to a prompt just type "r" to get recovery and then enter command "fixmbr" (without quotes) and re-boot to see if it works. If it does not, use the CD again and run command "fixboot" without quotes.
You can probably find a number of more detailed explanations by searching "fix xp master boot record" here at LQ, at support.microsoft.com, or google.
