How to install Thundedrbird in Bodi

How to install Thunderbird (International version) in Bodhi V 5.0. Got the intallation package(thunderbird-60.5.3.tar.bz2) unpacked and placed into folder. From there I'm stuck. What to do next?

How do I get into the Ubuntu repositories being in Bodhi?
The Tb version contained in Bodhi app store is US (English) only.
I need to install the Dutch version

Hi picnic, and welcome to LQ.

Is there a reason that you didn't install Thunderbird from the Ubuntu repositories? It would no doubt be easier doing it that way.

Is there a README or INSTALL file in that folder?

Bodhi is based on Ubuntu so I assume that it uses the Ubuntu repositories.

The following should work on the command line:

Code:
sudo apt-get install thunderbird thunderbird-locale-nl

Thank you, Hydrunga!
I uninstalled the US version of Tb.
Ran the instruction you provided. Seems to install Tb succcesfully. However, Tb doesn't show up as an App...

For the time being I use as a workaround the Tb executable contained in the unpacked TAR-ball

Perhaps this might help:

To find out where the system installed thunderbird so that you can create a launcher or menu item to point at it, run:

Code:
whereis thunderbird
It will probably be /usr/bin/thunderbird.

How to install Thundedrbird in Bodi

I have given up on Bodhi, Hydrurga. To my regret, I liked the GUI. I followed your advice how to install the Dutch version ofTb. It didn't help,Tb sticks to the US version. In Lubuntu the same commands leeds to the right Dutch version.
Ran also into problems with saving mail attachments.

I like to thank you for all you efforts in trying to help me in setting up an workable system environment

No problem. I'm sorry Bodhi didn't work out for you, but there will be a distro out there that does. Hang on in there.
