For dependency problems the only quick solution would be to download
the skype for linux statically linked binary.
http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-static
You must untar this using tar jxvf <filename>
follow the instructions inside the file (README's if any)
mostly the binary (skype) inside the directory must be working directly.

RHEL also has yum available, so using yum you can install/update the qt4 dependencies. Run 'yum update qt4' to do this (it seems that you already have an older qt version installed). Latest Qt version is 4.3.5.
Otherwise use that static Skype package, as already suggested.

I remember just getting the Skype static binary and it worked straight off the bat, and I use CentOS 5.1/5.2. Now too bad my mic doesn't work ...

Go to the following page and download skype for whatever distibution you are using:
http://www.skype.com/download/skype/linux/choose/
Then install the downloaded rpm using the following command
rpm -ivh ********.rpm
If you get dependency errors use yum install to satisfy them.
Once it is installed logout.. If you try to run skype from root it may give problems..
So in the terminal type $skype
You should be able to skype now..

hopeless
it's hopeless, skype rpm package in 2012 is bult for 32bit... it is installable on CentOS 6.2 64bit, but won't run because skype looks for 32bit libraries. tried to install the 32bit libs manually, but some of them aren't installable, due to, at least this:
Error: Protected multilib versions: libxml2-2.7.6-4.el6_2.4.i686 != libxml2-2.7.6-5.el6.rfx.x86_64
what a pain Microsoft, you had to do this to skype!
