How to install RedHat 9.0
 

Hi,
I have recently downloaded all three .iso images for Red Hat 9.0 and i have successfully burned them onto Cd's.
I have also partitioned my hard drive using Partition Magic 8.02 to make space for Linux, but here comes my problem. I have currently made a 10 GB Linux ext2 partition for linux to go onto, but people have told me that i should just leave it as unallocated space rather than changing it to ext2 and let Disk Druid sort out the rest. I just wondered whether you all thought i should change the partition to unallocated first of all before attempting to install red hat.
I'm making sure that i read up as much as possible before attempting to install Red hat as i do not want to muck up my current windows installation.

Have you created a swap partition? If not, you need to delete the one you have, in other cases I recommend you to delete it. Why? I think it's good idea to have /home on separate partion (/home keeps all your personal data, separate /home makes it easy to switch distros without loosing your settings). I also recommend you to use a journalled filesystem (better in case of power failure etc) like Ext3 or Reiser.

I have now used Partition Magic and deleted the ext2 linux partition that i had created and it is now unallocated space on the hard disk, which is not part of any partition now, so am i now ready to install Red Hat and use Disk Druid to use this unallocated space?
