How to install php-xmlrpc on CentOS 5.5

Hello my friends,

I'm trying to install php-xmlrpc on CentOS 5.5 and is not working, i downloaded the rpm, and tried to install:

# rpm -ivh php-xmlrpc-5.1.6-27.el5.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
php-common = 5.1.6-27.el5 is needed by php-xmlrpc-5.1.6-27.el5.i386
Then i check for php-common:

# yum install php-common.i386
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, priorities
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
* addons:
* base:
* extras:
* updates:
Setting up Install Process
Package matching php-common-5.1.6-27.el5_5.3.i386 already installed. Checking for update.
Nothing to do
Why is this happening? any help?

Uninstall PHP package from your system.

Move the new RPM / Package to your repository (the directory that contains the packages on the Yum Server, that is).

Try installing the PHP package by running the yum command and its appropriate options for your package.

yum install php*

Note: RPM does not resolve any dependecies problem. It can only report them. So, use yum instead.

Please use # yum install php-xmlrpc

Why install packages with an rpm command ? ?
Anyway : The install command used by yum is 'rpm -Uvh <package>.

'rpm -ivh' : Used when you want two versions of the same package
installed at the same time.
