How to install netscape on either rpm or debian distros.

Hi there, I am Joseph. I'm glad to be a member of the community of continuous learning.

I would like to know how to install netscape on either my rpm or debian distros.

Thanks in advance for your help.

To the best of my knowledge, Netscape for Windows has been abandoned, but is still available for download. Its developers recommend Firefox as one alternative. (Indeed, I didn't even know, until your post, that someone had continued the Netscape project.)

Firefox, which is included in most distros out-of-the-box, is likely your best choice, but you might also take a look at Seamonkey.

You might be able to make Netscape work with wine, but the release version so old that it probably has gaping security holes.

What do you mean by "netscape"? Netscape was a company that offered several products, and I believe they have been defunct for over a decade.

What versions are you currently running?

I assume are asking about the web browser. There was a Netscape linux version with the requirements, Linux kernel 2.2.14 (with glibc 2.3.2, XFree86 3.3.6, GTK+ 2.0, fontconfig/xft and libstdc++ 5). As posted it was discontinued 13 years ago and getting it working on a modern distribution is in my opinion not worth the effort.

SeaMonkey is the legacy and functional equivalent of Netscape 4, 6 & 7, though now considerably evolved. It uses the same browser engine as Firefox.

Welcome to LQ!

I am assuming you are referring to Netscape Navigator ...?

Please provide more information on what exactly it is that your are trying to do and we should be able to give relevant suggestions.
