how to install more fonts?

I dunno what's wrong with my installation on RH9 but I got very few fonts on it, and ugly ones too!

can anybody tell me where to get more fonts for linux and how to install them?

is it possible to transfer and use windows fonts (like times new roman, ariel, or verdana) on linux

Yes, it's possible. Just copy those fonts to your ~/.fonts directory, run fc-cache -v (as yourself, not root) and you should be able to use them. For more information you should read this, and if you want to disable anti aliasing for any fonts you can follow the instructions regarding the ~/.fonts.conf file on that page.
