How to install Linux on multiple desktops parallely

Hello All,

I have used various distro's but so far the interaction was always with standalone workstation, max few machines/servers.

I was thinking of a scenario, where say - Linux has to be installed on 20 servers with similar packages and configuration, what would be the best solution to tackle such scenario....

Thnx...

If they have similar disk sizes, then you could do one install and use clonezilla to image the drives.

Depends on the OS. I worked some time ago at a PC-vendor were all systems were delivered with Ubuntu preinstalled (between 50 and 100 systems a day). I managed that with a preseeded network install and some custom scripts, was pretty easy once you understand how it works. AFAIK something similar is possible using Kickstart for RPM based systems or a more general solution like FAI.

If your systems are similar, you can try using acronis. You can place the image in a server and launch the installation in other systems through netwrok.
