How To Install Linux in vmware
 

Good Day Everyone

I am very new in this field and in Linux, this is the scenario, I downloaded some .iso file Linux , the one is Red hat server 5.7, the other one is fedora and the other is linux enterprise, My question is how to install this .iso files? i searched the internet and i downloaded a program that freeisoburner, the problem is the .iso file is so big, how can i burn this in the cd?, third i saw a tutorial that you can only install Linux within linux, that is the thing that i don't understand

This is my last question, and this is the scenerio, one of the files that i downloaded i successfully burn it, and then i am trying to install it on the vmware but when i reach this part "what type of media contains the packages to be installed?" when i select the option local cdrom, the program told me that enteprise cdrom was not found

what is the problem? is it that maybe i selected the wrong version of operating system in vmware?maybe i selected the wrong one, and the software that is in the cd is wrong, i don't know please help

I have used only VirtualBox, but surely you do not need to burn the .iso to disk. You can just select the .iso file to use as the SOURCE.

All VM's that I know of have a similar set of tasks to do this.

First you create a machine that has ram and virtual hard drive if you wish. Settings may include all sorts of options like number of processors to usb support at boot and such like network and video. In those selections are as andrewthomas suggested, you select an ISO image as your cd storage. You need not burn the image to a real cd or dvd. Then you boot the machine and follow the install instructions.
