how to install ktorrent


hello frnds....
i am using slackware12 for 64bit proc....
i tried installing azeurus, as i was unable to install it i m trying to install ktorrent using tgz file. but i dont know how to install. i searched in the net but din get satisfying answer...
help me out....

Use installpkg to install Slackware packages. I assume you're not using "proper" Slackware, since it doesn't have a 64-bit port (but there are unofficial ports, obviously).

Just run "installpkg filename" as root in a terminal, replacing filename with the obvious.

nothing happened.....
this is the result....

Installing package ktorrent-2.2.6-i486-1...
PACKAGE DESCRIPTION:
ktorrent: ktorrent (BitTorrent program for KDE)

What do you mean "nothing happened"? Evidently something happened and I don't see anything wrong with that output. Are you having problems when you try to run KTorrent? If so, you really need to tell us what they are.

Edit: also, I don't know how wise it is to try and install a package built for i486 under x86_64. You may want to try finding a 64-bit package..

this is the error....

ktorrent: error while loading shared libraries: libgmp.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Go and get libgmp and install it. I don't know whether Slamd provides a package for it or not. If not, you'll have to look for an unofficial package, or build it from source. You might also want to run "ldd `which ktorrent`" to see if any other libraries show up as "not found".

hey i have successfully installed ktorrent using rpm package for x86_64.
