How to install g++ in linux


Hi,
I am a newbie to linux.Can anyone tell me in detail how to install g++ in linux.I have no idea on that.

distro = distribution

I.E Knoppix, Redhat, Fedora, Gentoo, etc.

see if you need to install g++ or for tht matter any application in linux you have to do the following,
1.compile the source code
2. installing the compiled source code

these two processes change according to the distros, so you got to tell us your distro!

yum install gcc-c++


Doesnt fedora have an add/remove in fedora menu(like windows)?...Just add it from there possibly as well

hi,
have you got a source code for g++. it must be .tar.gz file or an .src.rpm file?I exactly do not know which kind Fedora uses

I think fedora does not have a GUI installer for programs like synaptic in debian,update me if i am wrong!

Fedora can use YUM with a gui called GYUM. Alternatively you can use apt with synaptic, just like in Debain.

Hi,
I have installed the g++ .it shows some librarry files r missing.btw,what is YUM.is it a must for g++.Please let me know

YUM is a package manager for Redhat (and its clones), Fedora and Yellow Dog (YUM => YellowDog Update Manager). Install the missing packages if g++ says they are missing.
