Google has lots of information, this page http://www.nikhef.nl/~templon/fortran.html is centered around fortran on Linux. Since you have FC10, you should be able to type in "yum install g77".....

Hello,

the fortran compiler is part of gcc compiler-collection. Just look at "man gcc" on the commandline.

The package which provides the GNU fortran compiler in Fedora is gcc-gfortran. It should be already installed if you selected Development Tools during the OS installation. Otherwise check and install using yum
Code:

yum install gcc-gfortran

More information

You will have to post more information about what you did and exactly what happened. Can you post your error messages?

Hi napi! The step by step instructions are... the only and unique step I put in post #5 of this thread:
Code:

yum install gcc-gfortran
or you can use the more friendly Add/Remove software from the Applications menu of the Desktop. Obviuosly this requires you have root privileges in order to install new packages on this system and a valid internet connection (but you can install them from the Fedora installation DVD as well).

I can add that to build an application from source you probably need some other tools, like make and ld. For your convenience you can install them all using the following yum command:
Code:

yum groupinstall "Development Tools"
Finally to install the GAMESS software, follow step by step instructions from the developer, having in mind your F77 executable is /usr/bin/gfortran.
