How to install drivers for Wi-Fi card

I am extremely new to Linux, and would like to load the drivers for my linksys wi-fi card. I untarred it into the following folder /usr/local/src/linux-wlan-ng-0.1.14-pre1/

What must I do next?

Thanks...

First up, what kinda of network card is it - please paste the output of "lspci -v" whilst logged in as root. Also, where did you get the instructions to download the wlan-ng drivers from - they should provide more instructions? If not, within your directory of untarred files, there should be a README or INSTALL file. It's been 2-3 years since I used the wlan-ng drivers so don't know the exact ins + outs of it.

you need to untar that fille to access the readme

should you have problem once you have compiled the driver
the alternative solution is ndiswrapper (see tux magazine issue 7 or 8
