Unhappy How to install a messenger application?

Ive downloaded mercury messenger as: mercury_messenger.deb

i run: dpkg -i mercury_messenger.deb

i guess it is installed since it is in the list below.

i also run the installed packages list:
man-db install
manpages install
mawk install
menu install
menu-xdg install
mercury-messenger install
metacity install
metacity-common install
mime-support install
mkisofs install
mktemp install
module-init-tools install

But since i recently gave up windows (find it boring to be honest)
i have a difficulty locating my installation. In Win the apps are found in menu programs or program files.
How can i run my application in linux?

What distribution (version) of Linux are you using?

If you install using the package manager and the repositories for the distro, then the new SW will often be added to the menus automatically. Otherwise, you will have to manually edit the menus and/or create a launcher in your task bar.
