how to install a Kernel on FC4?

hi all....i was just trying to install some stuff and read that i need to install a kernel before i can install anything.....how and where do install it?

well i'd suggest you stop there and get decent advise on where you think your heading. you DO already have a kernel installed, it's not possible not to. so stop and explain what hadware you have or whatever has lead you to think you need to do this.

sorry....just needed to install some other stuff b4 it would let me install the things i was trying...BUT....i need some help still. I am trying to install the drivers for my graphics card which is a Nvidia XFX Ge-force 7800GTX XXX extreme edition 512mb. I installed the drivers which made my screen go funny when i tried to apply the Ge-force fx (unknown). i only tried to install it as this as my graphics card wasn't on the list. The package i tried to install is the 64 bit package because i have an AMD FX-60 processor. The name of the package is NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8178-pkg2.run which is the one advertised on the Nvidia website.....can anyone help?
