how to install a game or program that has been downloaded in kubuntu11.10

I've downloaded some software and a couple of games from the internet. How do I install these into kubuntu 11.10 or ubuntu 11.10? The downloads are still in my downloads folder as packages, I don't know what I am to do from here.
Thank you
Jonnynitro138
PS kubuntu and xubuntu are kind of cool with all the eye candy.

If those are .deb-packages just install gdebi using the software center, after that you should be able to install them with a simple double-click.

The packages are DOS, but I installed gdebi for future use. Is DOS software compatable with linux or do I have to use wine?

For DOS programs you use DOSBox, which should also be available in the software center. DOS is neither compatible with Linux nor wine.

Infos on DOS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOS
And it is simply not compatible with Linux because it is a totally different operating system.
