Please use the LQ Search function, or Google. This has been asked (and answered), many, MANY times.

Run usb_modeswitch. It will 'flip' the device from CD-ROM/USB storage mode, into modem mode. From there, use Network Manager to configure your connection. If you don't have usb_modeswitch, you can install it through the Ubuntu package manager.

I once was lucky with just "eject /dev/usbname" to get the device into modem mode. Also this is dunno 3-5 years pass.

i have usb-modeswitch already installed but still i cannot find it in the network manager.

Ok...so did you RUN usb_modeswitch?? Unless you execute the command, it won't 'flip' the device.

did you mean after installing usb-modeswitch...i need to open the terminal and type the command usb_modeswitch..???

Yes...the very obvious step after INSTALLING a program, is the need to RUN IT. Until you actually execute the program, it won't do anything.
