How to get Mandy to start with XDM?

I'm running Mandy 8.1 (as you can see from the little thing on the left), and by default X starts. The login screen is KDM, and I was wondering how to change this to XDM? Basically, I want a system that provides a nice plain login box over VNC. I thought that starting in text mode, running VNC and then starting XDM manually would work - no! VNC seems to start like any normal X session would, which includes running KDM, and I really want XDM over VNC. I'm not too fussed about using either for local logins, as I generally only do text logins anyway and startx when I need to.

It may seem like a very newbie question, but that's why I put it in this forum.

Cheers muchly.

edit /etc/sysconfig/desktop from kde i presume, to twm or something. or just hard code xdm into /etc/X11/prefdm
