How to get Cable Modem to work in any Linux
 
:) Help
I am a newbie (be kind) I am also a Senior Citizen so you will have to explain in detail no geek lingo:
I have downloaded every linux and burnt them to cd & dvd and installed them.
Not one of them lets me surf the net
I have Motorola Surfboard S5100 Cable Modem which runs through my Ethernet card on my laptop
I like some of these linux OS
I am doing this through Billy's xp OS
And looks like am stuck with his OS
Until someone can help

well... you will have to make sure linux is recognizing your ethernet card.

run "lspci" (no quotes) and post it here

I am now up and running in Freespire Linux (Linspire)
