How to get and install google earth for PClinux 2017


Greetings Linuxites... lot of info for installing this program, though I am now confused. Please is there a GUI installation method one can use to sort my problem. TIA

Welcome to LQ.

GUI : Open 'synaptic' and install lsb-test
(google-earth-stable_current requires lsb >= 3.2).

Download google-earth from https://www.google.com/earth/download/ge/agree.html
... select ".rpm for Fedora/openSUSE"


"The terminal GUI" :

cd Downloads/
su <enter root password>
rpm -Uvh google-earth-stable_current_x86_64.rpm (If you downloaded the 64bits package.)
The "launcher" google-earth.desktop can be copied from /opt/google/earth/free/ to the Desktop or the Panel. ( It is already present in /usr/share/applications/ and should appear in the Menu. But I cannot spot it.)

... thanks knudfl, the file name had to be changed to... "google-earth-stable_current_x86_64.rpm" and away it went! I am so linuxited! it works great so far.
