How to forward specific syslog messages using Red Hat?

I've been looking into logger, syslog, and cron to solve my question. In simple terms I'm trying to grep antivirus events from /var/log/messages and send them to a remote syslog receiver. I don't want to forward the entire messages file.

Better use Rsyslogd or Syslog-NG because both have got more extensive filtering compared to old school syslogd.
