How to find the driver module name using MAJOR NUMBER?

Can anybody tell how to find the driver module name using MAJOR NUMBER.
In general major number list is available in Documentation/devices.txt but if i want to find out the driver module name specific for a given MAJOR NUMBER, what can be done?

If udev is used on your installation, look the 'udevadm info' maybe with option '--attribute-walk' or some other.
Read 'man udevadm'.
Search the major number in the output and the driver associated, some lines above in the output.

Thanks for your help but I dont have udev installed in my system

Thank you very much for your help.
But I do not have udev installed.
So is there any other solution to get the driver module name from MAJOR NUMBER of a device?
