Typing 'ifconfig' at the terminal should give you the details.

You don't have to be root to use ifconfig. As a regular user you type:

/sbin/ifconfig

Microsoft.com does not help with Linux answers, and Linuxquestions.org does not help with Windows answers. A terminal is the same as a command prompt. In Linux you can get one with a terminal program in KDE or gnome, of by CTRL+ALT+F1, F2, F3, and so on. To get back to the desktop: CTRL+ALT+F7. You sound like English isn't your native language, and perhaps you aren't familiar with how to ask a question.

Tell us what you are trying to accomplish, in detail.
Tell us what you have tried so far to accomplish what you want to do, in detail.
Post relevant sections of relevant log of configuration files.
Tell us any error messages you have received on the monitor with exact wording.
Do not ask questions about MS Windows in this forum.
