How to execute commands at xorg startup?
 

Hello everybody! This is my first post here. I'm running Arch Linux on an old Compaq Armada e500. Everything works very good but xorg, wich auto-configures itself with HAL, starts with an US keyboard layout while i have a IT one. Since I haven't got an xorg.conf file and I don't want to create one because the rest of the configuration is perfect, i have to give the "setxkbmap it" command everytime.:mad: Is there a way to execute this command automatically at xorg startup? (I use lxde with GDM) Or maybe is there a way to change permanently the keymap without an xorg.conf? The keymap for the console is IT as it's set in the rc.conf file, but this doesn't have any effect on the xorg configuration.

In theory it should be set in xorg.conf to make sure it's set.

LXDE has a control file for startup in /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart. Dump the command in there and you should be good to go.

Take a look at the ArchLinux Wiki for the keyboard setup or look at the xorg section.

Ok I dumped the command inside /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart, now it works fine. I've already followed the ArchLinux Wiki's istructions but it did not work and I still don't understand why, since I'm quite sure I did it correctly. I was even planning to install xfce, but with that nice autostart file I'll keep on improving my lxde experience :) Thank you!
