http://java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.jsp

follow the instructions carefully and everything should work. whenever it says "mozilla," substitute that with "firefox."

I dont mean to steal your thread, but I was following the instructions described above and I'm having some problems. I downloaded the rpm from java.com. Installed it in my /home.
$ chmod a+x j2re-1_4_2_05-linux-i586-rpm.bin
$ ./j2re-1_4_2_05-linux-i586-rpm.bin
Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Binary Code License Agreement
for the

said yes at the bottom

# rpm -iv j2re-1_4_2_05-linux-i586.rpm
Preparing packages for installation...
j2re-1.4.2_05-fcs
# cd /usr/lib/mozilla-1.7.2/plugins
[root@Kobayashi plugins]# ln -s/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_05/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so
ln: invalid option -- /
Try `ln --help' for more information.

Can anyone tell whats the mistake im making?? thanks in advance
