How to edit files in directory /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ in ubuntu 11.10

How can I edit files in directory /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ in ubuntu 11.10 to resolve this problem

'W:Ignoring file 'airo-dock-team' in directory '/etc/apt/sources.list.d/' as it has no filename extension, E:Type 'ro-dock-team/ppa/ubuntu' is not known on line 5 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/cairo-dock-team-ppa-oneiric.list'

The files in that directory usually are named something.list. I guess perhaps that's what's triggering the warning? Try adding a .list extension.

As for the error, I believe your entry in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/cairo-dock-team-ppa-oneiric.list is malformed.

I have a PPA for Java, it looks like this. Is yours in this format?

Code:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ferramroberto/java/ubuntu oneiric main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/ferramroberto/java/ubuntu oneiric main

Solved should have used GKSUDO instead of just SUDO. Thanks

Or use an editor in the CLI, like vi or nano :-)

Kind regards
