how to download pkgs using proxy server

Hi,

I have Centos 6.2. I have been given the Proxy server IP address
I have to download pkgs using wget . if i use the IPaddress in browser it works fine. but if i use on shell it doesn't.

I had setup the variable http_proxy=http://172.20.3.16:8080 then i tried to wget . i get the block page error. I am not sure why it is happening. Below are the logs and the routes of the machine. I am able to ping the proxy ip address and telnet the port

[root@DEV-HMAERS1 download]# wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/6/os...el6.x86_64.rpm

Check the contents of the downloaded "blockpage.cgi" that may give you some reference as to why your traffic is being denied. Then check with your proxy admin to see if what you are doing is allowed.

Got it solved. The traffic was opened for specific sites not for all. It is solved now.
