How to download Debian.

Do I need all of the last 10 files on this page:

Nope. It is explained in the Debian FAQ, here: http://www.debian.org/CD/faq/#which-cd
Quote:

...in most cases it is not necessary to download all of the images for your architecture. The packages are sorted by popularity: The first CD/DVD contains the installation system and the most popular packages. The second one contains slightly less popular ones, the third one even less popular ones, etc. You will probably only need the first DVD (or the first two CDs) unless you have very special requirements. (And in case you happen to need a package later on which is not on one of the CDs/DVDs you downloaded, you can always install that package directly from the Internet.)

And if you've got a good internet connection, you can use the netinstall CD. Small CDs on this page.

Will the netinstall allow me to install only the basic package, equivalent to the third last file in the link I posted?

Happy Thanksgiving and please answer my last post!

The net install is just a bare minimum package so when you boot it on your computer, it downloads all of the packages you tell it to install.

And FYI, please don't "tell" us to answer your previous question like the way you did; It comes off as very rude.

Cheers,

Josh

The netinstall will allows you to install everything as long as you have an intrernet connection & the packages are the most upto date packages as long as you elect to update while downloading.

Installing with the netinstall, there is a package called Laptop. What is this and how does it differ from the graphical user interface package, which is a default package along with the core package?

is there somewhere online that I can read the descriptions of packages available in the setup from netinstall?
