how to display motd

Hello. Maybe a stupid question. I am wondering how to display message of the day when I use a console as a normal user? I know it does that when I start runlevel 3. I just want to know how to do it at runlevel 5. Thanks

Check the following link.

There look up the A More Aesthetic Runlevel 3 Login Screen and Harmonizing the Bash Startup Scripts. Modify to fit your distro though all that info should be valid on any distro.

Alternatively, you can just open a console session and enter
Code:

fortune

After reading the link from Zmyrgel, all I had to do was open .bashrc and type my own phrase and opened up the console and the phrase showed right above the prompt. That was what I wanted. Tnanks :) As for the fortune, I didn't like the way it was done.
