How to disable startup programs

how do i disable startup programs in fedora 11.
actually pulseaudio sound system starts up every time i log in. It interferes with the vlc media player running on wine 1.1.13(compiled from source). i killed the pulse audio process, and every thing works fine, but i have to do it every time i log in

I think following should work. Something like:

System->Preferences->Sessions->Startup Programs

Uncheck the Pulse Audio. Hopefully next time it will not start.

thanks. it worked. one more thing , there are so many processes in startup how do which of them are safe to disable, so that i can free up some memory

Firstly I think you should not worry about disabling them to free memory if you have sufficient memory (1GB or higher).

If you really want to disable, I think you can disable all of them (one by one) and see what happens. I dont think they will screw your system badly. Only some things will stop working. You will be able to recover (i.e. start them again).

(Disclaimer: I have not done this before so dont believe in my suggestion without caution)

google the startup program see what you get. If you need it keep it if not disable it
