How to determine asymmetric routing issue when ping target not working

Recently we met one issue, ping one target server is not working, at last network team identify it's asymmetric issue. Just wondering if there is a way to judge the asymmetric routing issue from linux terminal perspective instead of router or switch? thanks

It shouldn't be an issue (maybe explain your issue, eh?) unless your get state problems with network(ed) devices due to asymmetry. Run a trace (I prefer tcptraceroute) from both source to destination and the reverse.

Thanks for your answer, but I don't have access to the target (which is firewall gateway, only network team has access), so I can only traceroute or tcptraceroute from our linux server.

Well then ask your network team to tcptraceroute for you of initiate it from a machine behind the firewall gateway...
