How to detect OS type (x86 or x64) with NMAP?

Hi all,

Is it possible to detect if a remote computer either runs a 32 bit or 64 bit OS using NMAP?

Using
Code:

nmap -O --osscan-guess $hostname
or

Code:

nmap -O -v $HOSTNAME
Only returns the OS version, but not the OS type (x86 or x86_64).

Thanks in advance!!

only if there are tell tale signs in the responses in the network traffic from each implementation of that specific OS. There is not *meant* to be any difference at all though, and the outwardly visible parts of the network stack seems a broadly unlikely thing to be coded differently, they'd usually be a common library and source code that both builds use. Across the board, there's certainly no way, it really is down to coding styles or the developers. As the command says, it is a *guess* only.
