How to define an NTP server :

I am trying to verify if the NTP server is ok .
then I tried :
# ntpq -p

but answer is :
ntpq:read:connection refused .

however I am sure the NTP server is working , because other server is having the SYNC signal OK .
and the ping is working to the ntp server .

Welcome to LinuxQuestions.

The error means that ntp is not running on the local computer.
What linux distribution/version are you running.

There is lots of information on the internet on how to change timezones. Depending on distribution and desktop you are running it might be as easy as right clicking on the clock or settings in the administration menu and selecting the correct timezone.

Doing it via the command line is a bit more difficult.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:44 PM.
