How to create new log file to store details of the accessed files..!

I am a newbie to Linux, and have been trying to figure out how to set a new log file to store the details of user accessing files.

Initially i want log details like file opened time, file closed time and user name who have accessed the file.... for text files in some specific directory.

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

You'll either need some auditing tool (like LAUS) or write your own
based on the kernel notification framework or a library like dazuko.

This is (because it's quite resource heavy) not ready available and
enabled in Linux by default.

Tink
