How To create map to my QNAP

Hello everyone!

I have a question (obviously :-) ). I am running Mint 18, on an Acer Aspire r7-572 with 8GB RAM, a 250GB eSATA as the boot drive and a 500GB 2.5 SATA drive as secondary. I am trying to map to my QNAP TS 421 such that I can see everything from the root down.
Now I can map to individual folders and see them, but what I want is to have a mapped drive such that I can see all folders on the NAS.

Is this possible? Bearing in mind I am a newbie.

If I haven't explained myself well enough, please give me a shout.

Thanks!

From memory the QNAPs have multiple methods of connectivity, iSCSI, eSATA, SAS, NAS, and maybe more.

More information would be handy? Are you using iSCSI? Is the QNAP plugged into your home network and exporting via NFS? Or are you connected directly to your:

...sorry I couldn't resist that bit :-)

Anyway, more information would enable us to help you easier.

Thanks

It really is a bad idea to share / and I don't know of a good reason why you need to see everything. You can enable ssh to access the NAS as admin if you want to play with its OS.

Good point, and I'm inclined to agree.

But I don't think you can actually delete root level directories without using the QNAP Software. I don't remember the specifics, it's been a long time since I used one. When I commented the thought of mounting root didn't cross my mind, so real good point. The simple answer is, don't!

You can mount a NAS drive as a NFS connection.

If you mount with root permissions, you should even be able to use a GUI file manager.

At least I can - but on a much cheaper device that a QNAP!
