How to Create an Invisible/Hologram Video Effect with a Linux Distro

I am not a newbie as far as Linux goes. I have utilized several distros and even had classes in server administration with Linux. However, I am new when it comes to video editing on a Linux system. Most of my previous editing has been with FCPX.

What I am having a problem finidng is a way to create a sort of invisible man effect on top of a static background. For those familiar with it, in PhotoBooth on Mac there is an effect for both hologram and invisible where it captures the background with you out of the way. Then you enter and hit record again and it adds you with an effect to make you appear invisible of like a hologramon top of that solid background. Even if I cannot create that effect during the recording itself like in PhotoBooth, I am looking for a way to create the same basic effect using video editing programs for Linux. I have installed Guvcview, Kdenlive, OpenShot, and Pitivi.

Video editing with FCPX and Mac in general spoiled me in the video recording and editing department and now I am trying to learn how to do the same work on a Linux distro. So I am wondering if anyone has any links for tutorials or even programs which either create that effect during recording or after recording with video editing.

You could have a look at cinelerra and blender.

Cinelerra looks interesting, but I still cannot seem to find clear tutorials for how to create the particular effect I am after. I have several video editing programs. My primary problem is learning how to create the effect in them since they donot work the same as FCPX.

You would probably have to ask someone there.
