How to create a single-boot Win 10 ssd from a dual-boot ssd

Hello:

I do not know if this is even possible...

I have windows 10 and Linux Mint 19.1 dual-booting from a 250GB SSD. I have a old 160GB non-SSD disk.

I would like to 'move' the windows 10 partition only to the old 160GB disk BUT have it bootable. The windows 10 partition is about 70GB.

I have some experience with Clonezilla and can 'move' the windows 10 partition to the old disk BUT it will not boot.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

P.S. I no longer have any windows 10 O/S DVD's

I'd try using windows, and a free clone software for windows, which there are some out there, then clone windows to the other hdd. then there is the boot loader if you are not going to use grub to boot both. for the boot loader for windows.

torrent an iso or go to windows sight and get one and still using windows and windows sight to get an iso and create a bootale iso usb stick then use that for your maintenance mode to try and fix the boot loader for windows. first pulling the other drive out, so windows only sees it as the primary drive.

hopefully the cloning did the same with your mbr part so it has something to work with in repairing it back to the windows boot loader.

You could try booting from a Macrium Reflect boot media to do the job. It allows you to select which partitions you clone to the new disk.

One might be able to move it using gparted.

As to how to fix the loader we'd have to know how it is booting right now. You may have to get almost any windows 10 dvd to fix the loader and then chain off grub or what ever you wish to do.

Thanks BW-userx, jkirchner, hydrurga and jefro.

I'm going to download WIN10 and setup a separate PC and then scrap the dual-boot.

Thanks for your help.
