[SOLVED] How to create a desktop shortcut to a File, to a Folder - Ubuntu 20.04

I have moved long ago to KDE Plasma which does the job for me

Hello, exploring two of the methods mentioned above,
I have Mint 20.1, MATE 1.24.0
The right click on file - make link works, putting the new link in the folder where this file resides. Then right clicking on the link gives an option of copy to, and I choose desktop. So now I have a functional shortcut on the desktop.

Alternately, Right clicking on the desktop does give the option create launcher Clicking on that brings up the create launcher dialog box. At this point I am lost. The help file is not of much help. I should bring the subject up as a new thread asking for help here in LQ Newbies, or in the Linux Mint distro sub forum
section? Thanks.
