How to copy xfree86 from knoppix to slack

I read somewhere that I could simplify the x config by booting from knoppix, copying the xfree86 file then renaming it and setting it as the xorg.conf file for slackware. Is this true? If so could anyone tell me exactly how to do this because I don't know the command line well at all. Thanks a lot.

you don't need the command line for this... just open both files in a gui text editor on knoppix and use the copy/paste function... make sure you do a backup of the slackware xorg.conf file first, though, cuz i have a feeling this might not work-out as expected - in other words i'm not sure if using a knoppix xorg.conf on a slackware box would work... honestly, what i would do is take a look at both files with my own eyes and try to spot the options which are giving me problems - and then i'd edit only those options...

just my :twocents:...
