You don't give alot of details on your setup, so it's hard to say. Things like if this is on the same box, what the host OS is and what the guest is, etc. |
Or highlight and middle mouse button?

host machine is xp and i installed vmware in xp , now i want to copy text from text terminal into word document in windows, how to do it?

As TB0ne and devnull10 suggested, you should be able to simply cut and paste between Windows and VMWare.
Potential "gotcha": you probably need to install VMWare tools on your guest OS (here, your Linux). This article is a bit old, but it should still be valid for whatever release of VMWare you happen to have: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/ubunt...-vmware-guest/ 'Hope that helps .. PSM |
but that vmware tool is not highlighted,when to install it please help me plzzzz!

And you still haven't answered whether or not the ctrl-c/v combination worked. And if you want to install VMware tools, go to the vmware site, download them, and follow the instructions. |
Hi -
Exactly how you install VMWare tools depends on what VMWare product you're using (for example, VMWare Workstation), and version#. But in any case: 1. VMWare tools is provided on an .iso file 2. You "mount" the .iso in your guest OS (as though it were a real CD) This link explains further: http://www.petri.co.il/virtual_insta...s_in_linux.htm 'Hope that helps .. PSM |

If you read the previous posts, and tried to look anything up for yourself, you'll know what version you need, where to get it, and how to install it. |
Perhaps "e folder" means the Windows E:\ drive??

I hope you will learn to put your questions in the context of the answers and advice you receive. When you post something, make reference to the answers alread provided. This could mean saying that you did not understand some part of the answer---or it could mean telling us that you tried what was suggested and that you got a particular result. As you were advised in another recent thread, do not respond to help, suggestions, etc. by simply repeating your original question---or by throwing out a new question without relating it to the existing conversation. |
yes e folder means e : drive, so now i guess i should install vmware in c : drive right?
but wiil i be able to install vmware tool then in linux? |

And, you STILL haven't answered about versions, etc., or bothered to address the original issue, that you asked about. Did you try the originally stated solution??? |
Linux does not have the concept of "drive letters".

Yes you can install vmware tools in Linux guests. It's pretty well explained on this site. Kind regards, Eric |

Hi TBOne (and other fellow LQ users),
I'm a strong believer in patience, and that's the only thing needed to 'teach' the hard-headed. I think that the OP just doesn't know well how to communicate, most likely because he's not that experienced in English. Where there's a will, there's a way! If he shows the will, then I'm sure we can show him 'the way', although I'm sure patience and steel nerves will be needed :rolleyes: Kind regards, Eric |

LOL, haven't seen that one yet. I'm gonna have a look at his other threads to see what you mean. If it's just stubbornness then you are completely right TBOne.
Kind regards, Eric |

I stand corrected after reading the other threads you mentioned and I don't think I could demonstrate that much patience necessary to help out. Kind regards, Eric |

OK folks;
I think we can wrap up our critique of a fellow member and proceed with helping (or NOT helping, as you choose). Obviously, the appropriate response to any particular post is always welcome. |

grumble, grumble----- how to copy the text from vmware fron linux os into host os xp?
|

Anyway, VirtualBox has "Guest Additions" that can be installed on the guest OS to help integrate it with the host OS. I'm pretty sure VMware should have something equivalent, and according to previous posts it's called "VMware Tools". Remember, you install it in the guest OS, NOT the host OS. |
meandsushil;
1. Watch the language. 2. You have previously been advised to respond to people's inputs and to incorporate them in your follow-up questions. By contrast, you should NOT just keep repeating the question. Please summarize what you have done with advice already given on this problem. |
Yes my friend i did install in xp the guest os but i can not install it in guest linux man.

If I understand your post correctly you did install Linux in a virtual machine that runs on Windows XP, right? Did you read the link I posted in post #20? That explains in very easy terms how to install the VMWare tools in a Linux guest operating system. If you want to, we can go through it step by step if you tell me what you have tried and where it has gone wrong. Kind regards, Eric |
Hello meandsushil,
Can you please let us know if you were able to get what you want? In other words, is your problem solved or still pending a solution? If it's solved please mark this thread as solved using the Thread tools. If it's not yet working please let us know what's failing. Kind regards, Eric |
To install VMware Tools in Linux:
Start your VM, go to VM menu, Install VM tools. That should mount an ISO as a CDROM. In Linux, mount the cdrom, copy, extract and install tools. A complete walk through is available on the net...just ask uncle google. PS: As others mentioned, try to be specific when describing a problem... |
