How to convert the core dump to a readable text file

hi friends,
i just touch linux, may i know how can i convert the core dump file to a readable text file, which include all the information, which is in core dump, such as all variables, threads information, call trace for each tasks, and so on. i know use the GDB can view this, but it won't dump all the informations to one text file. but sometimes, people want to view the core dump reason without Linux environment.

Thanks a lot.

You can use gdb to put all that informations in a file. Use the -batch argument along with -x to provide gdb commands, and redirect the output to your file.

Thanks your fast feedback. I will study GDB command, then try your method. If possible, could you please give me a example that convert all threads call tree information to a text file? Thanks a lot.
