Depends on the VPN server. I'd say ask your University if they have VPN clients for Linux to connect with..

PPTP is prapriatory for windows systems. Linux has a very hard time connecting to it. it can be done but not without a lot of work.

it does the 2.6.x kernel as it will not work with the 2.4.x kernels.

VPN works now..only a small error

A short summary first :

Using the instructions in :http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/howto-suse-92.phtml

I managed to connect with VPN!!!

However there is an error , but VPN seems to work.

ERROR: When I type 'pptpconfig' to start the program the followeing error appears:
# /home/fm/.kde/share/config/gtkrc:37: error: unexpected identifier `gtk-alternative-button-order', expected keyword - e.g. `style'

Does anyone know what is this error and how important it is??

thx!
