[abhijeet@Illuminati ~]$ sudo wvdial
[sudo] password for abhijeet:
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.61
--> Cannot get information for serial port.
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ

--> pppd:  8
--> secondary DNS address 121.242.190.210
--> pppd:  8

then I edited /etc/resolv.conf and put the two DNS server address in it but even then my lap is unable to get connected..
Any suggestions???

my /etc/resolv.conf file reads like this
# Generated by NetworkManager
search localdomain

# No nameservers found; try putting DNS servers into your
# ifcfg files in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts like so:
#
DNS1=121.242.190.181
DNS2=121.242.190.210
DOMAIN=lab.foo.com bar.foo.com

This is the same thing you posted before, and I gave you suggestions in my last post, did you read them?? Things about permissions, init strings, etc????

Also asked you what desktop environment you're using, and you didn't answer.

If you read the links I posted, it tells you about them, what the init string is and where to put it, and how to change permissions. I gave you several links, which one did you try, what did you do?

First link, read post #8.
Second link, start reading at "wvdial"
Third link, try any of the GUI based network managers mentioned, or even the one you have in your Gnome desktop, like Gnokii, or right-clicking the network manager icon, and set up a new dial-up connection.
