is it using ETHERNET or USB?
if using ethernet, then plug cable in and away you should go...
If its usb then we need to know the modem details...

Its using ethernet, but its not as simple as plugging in the cable.
I need to do some settings in system->administration->network. What would the correct settings be? I connect using pppoe.

broadband is wireless type so first you have to tell me does linux suport your card it probally will with some configuring. then when you have your card working take the info from your windows configuration and configure your conection. if you are ppoe which distro do you use the reason is they are written around the program roaring penguin. in mandriva pclinux it is called aDSL yum yast etc to the connetion is aDSL.
