How to configure the Printer


Hi Everyone,

Could anyone please tell me, How to configure the printers in Linux, what are the steps we need to follow.

Install CUPS and go to http://localhost:631. Go to Administration -> Find New Printers, and some should be autodetected. If not, you can add one manually easily enough.

Because i am working as a DBA i dont know this topic.

what jhwilliams meant is use your web browser -- Firefox, Mozilla or Konqueror -- to access printer configuration. Copy and paste the URL he provided into your browser navigation and hit Enter.

What is a "DBA" in this context and how is it relevant?

What distro (version) of Linux are you using?

Is CUPS installed and running? To check, enter "ps -e | grep cups" in a terminal. If nothing is found, use your package manager to see if it is installed.

DataBase Administrator. They play with Oracle/Windows systems, I think. Never met one.
