How to configure the Airtel Broadband connection in Redhat linux 5
 
Dear All,
I am using airtel Broadband connection at my home. I can able to browse the internet via windows but the thing is i am able to connect the internet via linux redhat 5. after connecting the LAN cable i am getting the IP address with that IP Address i am able ping with my Windows system which is connected in the same network and i am able to access my linux ftp files from windows PC. I think the we need make the changes in the below configuration file(/etc/ppp/resolv.conf) can some one help me to do the configuration on Linux.

first of all how you connected the modem/router, is it connected directly to Linux box or via Switch/hub in network
can you ping the default gateway ...?
you need to provide more details about how you are connected!

ifconfig -a

I connected with the Wireless ADSL Modem via LAN cable. I can able to ping with the Default gateway, the thing is i am not able to connected with the internet.

edit the file
vi /etc/resolv.conf as root in that file add lines

nameserver XX.XX.XX.XX (ip address of dns server provided by isp)
nameserver XX.XX.XX.XX (alternate dns by isp)

you did not provide the output of ifconfig -a and netstat -rn
without giving proper info we can not help!

can you ping those nameservers in resolv.conf file
access the router/modem config page and verify the DNS servers.
or add nameserver 192.168.1.1 to your resolv.conf file
