I have posted before and was not very happy with the performance of my laptop with using Mandrake 9. On a whim, I re-formatted and re-installed Mandrake 9 and it is doing so much better! I was also surprised how easy it was to do! (It was already setup when I received it with very basic setup)

What would make my life perfect would be if someone could slowly walk me through how to configure the soundcard. This is a laptop I inherited and as far as I can tell without original documentation is that the laptop (Compaq Armada 1540 DM) has Compaq Premiersound which is 16 bit soundblaster compatible.

Any ideas? Or better a tutorial? :-)
