how to configure my network on slackware 10.0 so i can access a windows network

the main computers i wish to access have xp and xp pro. only my computer has slack. i can't slack 'em all cause my dad would probably go insane since he knows very little about console or how to configure a 3 botton mouse by editing a file.

in windows i can access other computers just by typing the ip address. i've tried that with linux but i don't have access, do i need another package? i really have no idea how to do this.

help very much apreciated.

Use samba to do it. Then you can connect to it with smbclient or mount the file systems if you set some kernel parameters and install another package which I forgot the name of.

You need to look into Samba
