Question How to configure GRUB2 to give me the multi boot option

The hard disk inside my laptop looks like this

[ Win 8 ][ SWAP ][ Linux ][ Data ]

What are the steps to configure the GRUB2 to give me the option to dual-boot when I turn my laptop on?

If you boot into Linux then run update-grub as root it should add Windows 8 to the GRUB menu.

Sory, yes, though there are similar commands on other systems.

Which linux distro it is?
Do you use a live cd/dvd to boot for installing grub?
Give output of 'fdisk -l'.

Read grub manual.

First backup your data and then have a look at this dual boot link:

If things get messy, I recommend that you keep a GRUB2 repair kit handy:

Talking

I realized the Mint installation did it perfectly even without asking for my permission, or asking me to enter any information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And for anyone else who will be reading this in the future,

Download and run the program named GRUB optimizer to put a cute beautiful photo in the background of GRUB!!
