how to change the mouse in Mandrake 10.1

Im tryign out Mandrake 10.1, and apparently it didnt like the mouse that i chose, so I can't use my mouse, my screen in kde has that K box at the bottom but I have no idea how to activate it, nor what to go to, to change the mouse.

P.S. Should I upgrade to Mandrive 20006, I have a burned cdr laying around with the update on it.

If you don't want to try to fix your current installation, it might be better if you install the 2006 because it's more up to date and you won't have to mess around with config files. To figure out which mouse type you have, go on the back of the computer and check what the mouse contact looks like. If it's a round one, it's a PS/2. If it's a flat rectangular one, it's a USB.
